Does VLM 'officially' have any UK bases? Somebody once said (on here I think) all planes return to Belgium at the end of the day. Sounds a bit bizarre.

As well as Belgium, they have aircraft based in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Hi Superpilot

No they don`t all fly home to roost, 2 based at Manchester and 1 at Liverpool
that I know of.
They do change aircraft over frequently which usually happens at London City
as this is the centre of their world.
One of the Manchester machines usually goes to Cologne and back on a Sunday and I think maybe linked with BWIA flight ex Manchester due to the times
and in the summer I think it goes to Jersey

Might be one for a different thread, but what's the reason for not having a
LCY base?

Thanks

LCY is an inbound market. Even with the aircraft based away from LCY, the first flights in the morning from LCY are often pretty empty.

Space. No hangars (of the size rq'd for coupla F50s).

Not so sure about the outbound traffic. AF/Cityjet have laid on a VERY early flight to ORY... come to think of it, their 146 stays at LCY overnight.

Sorry this isn't related to the original post but I dropped my auntie off at London City airport for her flight to Liverpool last night. That was my first time to the airport and I was extremely impressed. The check in process was complete within seconds, literally. The airport itself is also very clean and efficient. From check in to departure gate it takes a couple of minutes.
