We're struggling in the airline world, LACC Swanwick running at 50% until around 2200Z when they can get a chance to take the system down for a restart.

Boarded the BA1454 (LHR-EDI) @ 16:40 for 17:00 departure. Capt. advised that Swanwick had been down but was back up and running again but there were long delays. Initial estimate was for an 18:00 engine start time. Just our luck that the APU was up the spout, sun was shining and the flight was full! We eventually had start at 18:15 and took-off at 18:40. On landing at EDI Capt. said that system had crashed again and they were likely to experience long delays in getting back to LHR. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="rolleyes.gif" />

Was it Swanwick, or West Drayton? Richard Wright(NATS) reportedly said it was a WD system, nothing to do with new systems at Swanwick.

It was NAS, at West Drayton, or at least Swanwicks link to it.. .. .Swanwick cannot function WITHOUT NAS at WD.. .. .NAS was back up and running within half an hour. The question remains how come the link to Swanwick was not restored until the early hours of this AM?. .. .For more info see the ATC Issues Forum.... .. .BEX

Ha, that's why EGKAtwr EGKKcontrol and subsequently London control were telling me they couldn't find my IFR FLTPL back to EBAW Antwerp, Belgium...Allthough acknowledgement was obtained before the flight to Shoreham... Thanks a lot though to London Control who went great lengths to clear me to FL090 and give me IFR clearance! I thoroughly enjoyed this IF training flight and am sure I'll visit you at the other side of the channel again soon!. .. .Cheers,. .OBS
