Landing Sites near Mansfield UK

Does anyone know of any heli landing sites around Mansfield, Notts ?

The machine needs to overnight there, so needs to be secure.

HB, good mornining.

If you look at the Jeppesen half mill map grid ref 001.20 53.00 there is a H next to the M1 about 5/6 miles from Mansfield, but no other info, go to the Lakes instead much nicer!

From my own experience of operating in that area for the last few years, if it's the one owned by "AutoAlloys" (just west of the M1, between J28 & J29), I think it's no longer used.

The nearest place is obviously Hucknall but not very secure. Netherthorpe is next closest.

There is a private fixed wing strip at Lambley which is in the back of Pooleys and is not too far from there. Give him a call and see if they will accept helos. it is OK security wise.

The site next to the Motorway is the
Swollow Hotel but the site is not secure only a H on the raised grass bank next to the slip road.
Handy for a pick up but not overnight

The local police helicopter is based at Ripley, Derbyshire which is not far from Mansfield.

Give them a ring on 01773 572709 - their place is certainly secure and they might be prepared to help.
