Managed to visit the Mighty 8th Air Force museum whilst staying in Savannah, GA, recently - wasn't going too but my curiosity got the better of me:
"Will the Yanks portray the 8th as winning the European war on their own blah, blah"
Happy to report that the museum was absolutely fantastic in terms of it's portrayal, interactive stuff, facts etc and in typical Yank fashion, their museum of just one of their air arms is freakin huge!!
Scariest display was of the actual ME292? (the rocket thing) that shot/damaged the actual B17 on display.......now that's impressive.
Now I know that all mil pilots have either houses in Fla or have to go to Disney atleast once a year - strongly recommend you pop up the coast - well worth a visit.
Take your mil id for discount - shame I handed mine back last year - would have almost been staying in just to receive a discount............................
