I have been asked by a friend who is looking to buy a CJ1+. This is not my area of aviation can you help?

Can you fly a jet aircraft under 5,700 kg's on public transport single crew or with a pilots assistant?

I know you can on a turbo prop but can you with a Jet?

If you can't do this what is the reasoning?

Cheers Melia

Simple quick answer is yes single crew on Jets is approved for certain types. I think someone did a list a few weeks back as to types approved for single pilot ops, but I can't find it right now.

According to a recent 'Flight' article no.
It will be up to the CAA to approve the Ops Manual of any UK PT operator, and present policy (which I admit may change) apparently precludes the single pilot option.

The simple answer is no if operated under JAROPS.
ANY jet is a Class A aircraft.
FAA does allow single crew jet ops on a few citations.

I saw a company owned by Micheal Bond ordering a load of Eclipse 500's for 'Air Taxi' operations are they going to operate 2 crew?

Because I would have thought that severly limits the range with 2 crew and 2 pax?
