Australian Airlines jet in emergency landing
03/01/2006 - 11:55:24

An Austrian Airlines jet landed safely in Stockholm today after problems with landing gear doors, an aviation authority spokesman said.

The Fokker 70, with 85 people on board, landed at Stockholm’s Arlanda airport as emergency vehicles stood by.

The jet was on its way from Vienna to Stockholm when a warning system showed a problem with the landing gear and the pilot alerted the airport.

The pilot made a pass over the airport so ground controllers could verify that the gear was extended and the aircraft was cleared to land. Airport spokesman Niclas Harenstam said that there was something wrong with the landing gear doors, which had not closed properly.

“The landing gear doors may have touched the ground upon landing, so we decided to unload the passengers on the runway and tow the aircraft to the terminal,” he said.

Isn't that how it's pronounced? At least it sounds like that on the Radio and TV... some of the announcers even put a "y" in there somewhere!!

Am I missing something? The report seems perfectly reasonable. The title of the thread is the only confusing bit:confused:
