Heard a rumour that a Caravan went down in Zalengei yesterday. Apparently engine failure after take off and neither of the crew survived. Don't think there were any pax on board.

First report said it was a Caravan going down in Zalengei, then there was another report of an Antonov 28 going down after departure Nyala.
I believe the correct version is that an Antonov 28 went down in Zalengei.
As far as I know I fly the only Caravan in this area now.
Apparently the AN28 had an engine problem coming in to Zalengei. The crew decided to take of again with the engine problem but crashed shortly after departure.
Both crew died on Christmas Eve. I was chatting with the crew just a few days earlier, and now they are gone...

Always sad when we lose friends and co-workers through something unforseen. This appears to be just another example of the long chain leading to an accident. break a link and it wont happen..

Hi guys.

Sad stuff.

ER-EJA has been around the area for the past week, flying for AMIS. Not sure if that is the one that went down though. The bushtellegraph in this place works about as well as the cell network.

Aim High!

It's the AU (Skylink) machine that went down, not the PAE one...

Who thinks AU - Skylink (http://pm.gc.ca/eng/news.asp?id=489) could have read this paper (http://www.jmss.org/2005/fall/articles/fitzsimmons.pdf) ?

Just wondering.....where's NATO? Every peacekeeping force then needs his own PMC!? Look at Iraq for example...

Sorry to hear of the crew though.

Perhaps a little off topic here, but NATO and some of the others are keeping an eye on things...
