Quick question,

Can anyone give me some names and places in Oz that conduct the ground schooling (theory) for GPS NPA's. Also, is there anyone who has a KLN 90B unit in their aicraft by chance ?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

rotorque,. .Here is one place:. .http://www.aerospacetraining.com.au/courses-gps.php3

Having helped get some Non Precision Helo approaches for Sikorsky, I can attest to the fact that they are not terribly difficult. A few for practice in VFR conditions should be all that is necessary. (Of course, it could be that Oz requires a formal training course, with appropriate stamps, seals and ribbons to adorn the pilot's certificate!)

For helo non-precision approaches in the States, the speed is 70 KIAS, and the approaches will not work if done faster, as the turn radius is too great to make the course turns. Also, if too fast, the decel in the visual segment after breakout will require a hairy deceleration.

Unfortunately, you are again spot on!! :)

Try Terry Summers in Sydney at Heli Check. Dont know direct number but try him through CareFlight in Sydney. I think they (CareFlight)also have the GPS you are after fitted to their aircraft.

Nick,

Must be a cultural thing for us Nick! Did not our founding fathers rebel against something called the "Stamp Act"?

The folks in Oz, are merely following lockstep with their former masters.....except for the pay thing, anyway.

Rotorque. .. .Terry Summers can help at CareFlight SY (0298916144) or try John Broom at Westpac SY as they have the KLN90 in their BK117. Sorry, haven't got their number.. .. .Happy hunting
