There is an interesting post by "Dryclean" (Rumours & News - Training Positions - Is the remuneration appropriate ?) which may prompt a few comments from the world of rotorhead trainers.

From what I have been told, most companies don't seem to pay their trainers very well when you consider their qualifications and experience, not to mention their reponsibilities.

There also appears to be a problem of proper support from the companies, in terms of budgets, availability of aircraft, realistic time frames etc. etc. as well as the supposition that training captains appear to be the panacea for all problems to do with finding a pilot for air-tests, roster short falls and so on.

I have been told that it is not uncommon to see all of the bean counters and so called managers office doors closed for the night whilst the lights in the training captains office are burning brightly.

It would be interesting to hear from the sharp end.
