Loose rivets

For some time, my W-Perfect has had the nasty habit of locking up on start-up. Ctl alt del shows me that two separate copies have been called and obviously are conflicting. Getting rid of one kills both of them. I start again and usually all's well. Not too much of a problem so I lived with it....until now.
Now, Explorer is doing something similar. Any time that I right click on a folder, say to rename, the prog crashes and I find that a second explorer has been called...again causing some sort of conflict. Again both disappear when one is terminated within task manager. The system then offers me the chance to send details to MicroSoft
This fault is solid, inasmuch that it will do it every time. Any ideas? R
