We suggested that jumpseater should start a thread just for pics of modern day jets and such. His first showing are great. Some brilliant perspectives indeed.

OK now, you guys with the cams at airports put them on this thread ONLY and let us see if we can build an 'album' that you can feel proud of.

Remember to keep within the size we specify which is around 800 x 600 pixels max. Please avoid going outside the page window.

PPP and BOAC

Edited to show the 'Standard' PPrune max photo size. If you can, I suggest you reduce the size of the pic file as well, to reduce download times. Modern digicams can produce not only huge images but large file sizes! Sites like 'photobucket' will do the file reduction for you, reducing to 512kb max image file size. Easily available picture handling stuff like 'Paintshop' will reduce the actual image size for you.

It was 800 wide, but only a small % of the original as only wanted cockpit - it was 30mb file!
Apologies as cannot always reduce without disc to hand. (Will heed the 800 x 600)

GK - you just 'squeeze in' on the picture width which is the significant bit as it avoids going 'off-screen' in the forum viewing frame (but only just!)

For the benefit of all PPrune picposters:

The chosen size - 800*600 - is designed to be a compromise in having the pic big enough but not TOO large. PLEASE try to resize - it is not difficult!

Question: I read that Copyrighting pics on pprune was a no-no. So above we have Air team Images photographer doing just that.
We frequently have postings with links to airliners.net, which after all is a commercial site.

Was that picture taken on the 3/24? I've stood there when USAIR took off downwind, wasn't sure if it was that day or not. Good chance it was since my SXM layovers are fairly infrequent.

I love those photos of Greenland as it brings back memories of a start to a great holiday, from the moment we psssed over Northern Scotland to the time we started the decent to Minneapolis blue sky, sea and ice and unlimited visability,
pity weather at Gatwick and Minneapolis wasn`t the same

Just loved the Catalina. My wife and I are hoping for a ride on that early next year. Recently attended a slide show by someone who had been to Wanaka. Oh boy... He also had slides of restoration projects all over NZ and some of the aircraft were mind blowing.

Re the Airtruk, the original concept grew almost literally out of a pile of Harvard or Wirraway bits, and its genesis includes some development in New Zealand by a company named Bennett.

Amazing looking aeroplane - when I was a lad in Nairobi, there was one at Wilson Airport. My dad told me that it pranged during a spraying demonstration at the ariport and rolled itself into a ball!

Okay, this is at the Fire Service training establishment at Moreton-in-Marsh, Glos, U.K. Taken from a Cub at about 1,500 ft and i only had a 28-135 lens.
It was one of the few summer evenings in 2007.

My names George and I am starting this thread basically to ask if you could all have a look at my fotopic site if you have a few spare minutes.

All I want is a small visit once a month or possibly once a week so I feel that my photography is not wasted, I want other people to see my photos.

I am only an amateur photographer with a compact camera but I would still appreciate it.

If you have any comments after viewing my site please raise them in this thread or through the site itself.

I know its only amatuer but please giv me a chance lol

(The site I have at the minute is free so the quality of the pics is set to 70% until I upgrade. If there are any photos you wish to look at in better detail feel free to save them to your own pc by simply pressing Full Size and then the whole right hand click drill.)

Even if you kept it in your favourites and returned to it everynow and then it would be great. I update it alot so there is always something new to look at. Just check the introduction box for updates.

Very nice pics.......except the Emirates water canon is a touch out of focus.
This is NOT a critisism. More a reflection on the camera. [What camera is it BTW?]
As you [so obviously] have talent, go for a "better" camera.
Eg, Purely "Digital" Fuji 4900/6900 [old but good] Fuji 5200 [newer and has xd rather than sd cards]
I have owned both the 4900 and the 5200. I now have a Nikon D70. [I have used Nikon (35mm Film) cameras since 1970, so have a collection of lenses, etc]. Look on ebay for a Digital SLR. I see that you are only 17. Save up. Ask for cash, not pressies.
Advantage of a "D" SLR is that the press of the shutter button records...NOW not what is going to happen 3/4 secs in the future.

yeaa lol the water cannon is bad because it was taking place a mile away (so I was forced to use the much hated digital zoom) from where I was. I did my best but there you go. I was thinking of upgrading mind its just the prices make me cry :P mind how can I talk I'm self funding my PPL lol. :p

btw the kit I'm currently using is a FinePix F650 compact 6.3 MP and 5 X optical zoom.

Not bad George. I use a Canon EOS20 and it's rubbish (or maybe it's me). I too have a lot of pics on Fotopic and you'll find that people will visit the site without it being "advertised".

Edit note:

In fact, your fotos made me realise two things:

1) VS paintwork doesn't look too good on that 744;
2) I wonder why LH get's away with using its slots for small regional jets like the one shown in your line up, whereas BAA is just about to throw Luxair out of LHR because of their continued use of the ERJ. BAA feels that LHR is too busy an airport and landing / TakeOff slots are too valuable to be used by aircraft only carrying two/three dozen passengers, whereas the slots could accommodate an aircraft carrying 400 passengers. I assume no-one complains about LH because the majority of their flights are larger aircraft??
