Way back in my military days, I remember that "DF" or Dog F#%* was a term linked with the general ability of pilots.

Can anyone help me with the difinitive meaning of the term?

I am going to assume it stood for Drunk Fu%K! As in, the more he drank the better he assumed his general flying ability was..........:E

As far as I can remember, it went something like this:

.......... Dog Fu%k is something that cannot be taught to a dog; it has to figure it out for itself.

Likewise, there are certain things in aviation which a pilot cannot be taught and has to figure out for themselves.

This was generally what was meant when someone (usually your instructor) said "Use your DF"

...........there, this is the long version as I remember it.

1. I was wondering if I had it right?
2. Is there a more abbreviated version?
