Went away to the UK for 2 weeks and left the car in Long Term Parking. Got back last weekend and found a sign at International Terminal saying, "no more busses to LT parking, go catch a cab". There was certainly no notice of this dramatic change when I took the bus from LT parking to International Terminal on 18 November. And weren't the cabbies cooperative when I asked for a ride to the other side of the airport; NOT.

Ok, not a professional pilot issue, but what is going on at Sydney airport?

Pug, I did my sums earlier this year as I was costing parking at BNE for 2 weeks, it worked out to be about $240 plus running costs from the Sunshine Coast (100k each way). I actually finished up getting a limo to take us to BNE and meet us as we returned. Cost $260 and I didn't have to drive and had a beer instead.

Think about it next time.

There is an hotel near Sydney airport [PM me if you want the name - best not to 'advertise' them here :) ] , that if you book for a night (like $100 or something) you get 5 days free parking there. Not the best hotel but hey..

Funny thing is, if I were a lawyer then I'd wonder if they had breached my contract by refusing to provide return transport to LT parking.

The guy on the gate told me that people were parking then finding out they were no busses, paying for 1 days parking and then having to dash over to international parking where there are 'new' rates for LT parking.

What they don't say is that these 'new' rates do not have a capped component like they used to, ie a max of 10 days I think it used to be. Methings its due to the new fenced off area for the affluent corporate parkers who do not want to park their cars too far from the gates - you need the exercise!

THanks for sharing the secrets, I'd be a bit stum about them - its like the trick of leaving the relos on the departures level and then you can collect them curbside with the car rather than get screwed for short term parking at arrivals.

Another icon becomes 'Unaustralian', Macquarie would be rolling in his grave at the antics of his rorting namesake.

Cheers
