Does anyone have a link to the X15 'event' which IIRC was a spin at Mach 7 at umptydump,000ft followed by an ejection?

Hmm. If you're asking about the fatal X-15 accident of November 1967, the flight transcript is here (http://www.check-six.com/Crash_Sites/X-15_Report/Radio_transcript.htm). Narrative account here (http://www.check-six.com/Crash_Sites/X-15A_crash_site.htm). If you've visited the NASA memorial, you'll've seen Mike Adams's name there. May he rest in peace.

But you may have a different event in mind.

There was a spin, but no ejection sadly. Mike Adams died when he re-entered the atmosphere sideways at Mach 7 and the aircraft broke up.

More of the story here (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/x15/adams.html) and some photos. (http://www.check-six.com/Crash_Sites/X-15A_crash_site.htm)

The radio transcript (http://www.check-six.com/Crash_Sites/X-15_Report/Radio_transcript.htm) makes for sombre reading.

I don't think anyone ever used the x-15 ejection seat (http://users.bestweb.net/%7Ekcoyne/x15seat.htm).

Heh. Thanks.

Where is this "out" that you speak of? I've heard it mentioned elsewhere (http://www.catholic-church.org.uk/) (scroll down to the link at the very bottom of that page - very droll).

Would you believe, the X1 ... X2 and X15 story has just been covered by 'In Search of Speed' on BBC2 ....... its well worth seeing if you can find someone with a copy ...... most of the Key Test Pilots involved are interviewed ...... brave guys for sure

There are some interesting X15 Pilot Biographies here ....
