Hey guys, I am done with Sahara. Got the call for a sim check with these guys. Wanted to get some feedback from NG Captains that are there now. I already know the routine if its the same deal at Sahara, oral exam, a few route checks, and then your flying. I have already done the airlaw and dont think I will need another oral. What I am trying to find out is all the negatives. Been thru this once and figured I would give it one more try with someone else. Help appreciated, thanks.

hey tomcat,
so did u complete ur 1year? contract with sahara..? I'm sure u knew of the 6 or so Sahara pilots who resigned earlier this year to join AI express only to return back to Sahara.....maybe good idea to check up with them about T&C's and other issues at express....
How was your stint at sahara???
take care and masalama...

No, I was there about 4 months. Dont want to say too much unless you want to PM me. Can tell you that the guy running the a/c off the rwy at BOM didnt help any expats!! One thing is for sure, its the most disorganized place i have ever seen. The management has no clue how to run a flt. dept. Noone is too happy there, and yes we did have a bunch leave only to return but there is alot more to that story than whats at face value.

Hey tomcat. AIE has a lotta goods and a few bads.Salary is good.....ie for expats. Approx 9,000$ PM ( if u include the year end bonus). All accomodation is 5 star hotels with transport.Tax is YOUR problem. You can opt for 3 weeks on and 1 week off or 6 on and 2 off.Time off starts when u reach ur home base ON the AI network. New York and LA included......amongst others in the U.S. ALL travel to and from ur home base on the AI network will be AT LEAST buisness class with First class more often than not. You will be treated like a king! Cons........try and opt as hard as you can for....1)Delhi base....2)Cochin....3)Trivandrum....4)Any other EXCEPT Calicut. Conditions are ok even in Calicut, except that u will be completely away from any decent form of company...( cabin crew notwithstanding.........lolol ). Even when in Calicut (if),ask for the Kadavoo Resort. You will get it.You may try and ask for Bombay base but in all probability,it'll be blankly refused cause it's reserved for training captains and the lot.You know......the previliged kinds...!!! Also for obvious reasons.Sims used are Jet Airways sims, which are in Bombay. You gonna have a brief 1 hour screening in the sim.If u speak english,u wont have ANY probs.Hope i could help out tomcat. If u want anything else do lemme know. When are u expected to join? All the best. All in all a pretty kool deal. P.S.....be prepared to fly at least 90-100 hrs PM. Overtime starts at 75. Cheers.

Thanks for that post boeingdream787!

Probably the first POSITIVE post I have come across regarding AIE.

Do you know what they pay FO's?

Cheers and thanks again

You are welcome tomcat. BTW all this info is from a close friend who's working there as a Trainer. The FO salary really really sucks.I do believe most rookie cpl holders take home less than usd 1000/- pm.That of course is after training cost cuts and taxes. But all this should'nt bother u.Cause as a rule,in india,so far....expats are not recruited as FO's in ANY airline.Something about progressive employment and such.....lol. So all FO's are locals.
