Folks what is all this rambling mumble speak on the R/T. "xxx I would like to climb to FL340 if it is available within the next 45miles as we are getting some 'light chop' at FL320 and our passengers are complaining about the bumbs and we cannot serve coffee"

How about: "Request climb FL340"

or if it is urgent "Require FL340"

Seriously folks, listen out tomorrow....no body uses "request" anymore.
When you hear some of these inane R/T calls.....guess what, thats what you sound like too!

or STATE REASON !

Hence skip that part and give the reason .

I guess if there is a request for change of FL, the ATC will allow it if it is possible without asking too many questions. If not possible, then he will just say "negative".

Not really R/T talk, but what about "Please"?

No room for PLEASE in RT. Leave it out and just request what you want.

eg. REQUEST FL340 due turbulence.

airfranz, your approach to RT doesn't lead to less RT. It leads to more RT and more confusion. Stick to standard RT and everyone knows what is going on, including foreign pilots.
