Passing through KLIA, KUL, the other day and witnessed substantial celibrations, folklore dancing, music, and everyone of importance attending.
Reason, the A380 had arrived. MAS have ordered six.

For an airline which makes record losses one would expect a more prudent approach to the "white elephant" arrival.
Can they pay for it ? And what are they going to do with them.
Heard Australia - Europe, with less than 500 seats.

Anybody "in the know" can enlighten me ?

According to the press it will be Australia - Europe, with the LHR route the first. Makes sense. Also heard they are likely to have less than 500 seats.

Sounds like a good excuse for a party though.

Why should MAS bother about the price..after all it's the taxpayer's RMRMRM.

@ Lorin

Yes, at the end of the day it is the Malaysian government who has to plug the financial holes.
As a regular operator into and out of KUL and thus reading the Malaysian newspapers regularly, I noticed an increased worrying trend in opinion in said papers that MAS is in dire financial straits and that it is actualy 5 minutes to twelve, so something has to give.
In that context I have placed my posting re music and celebrating upon the arrival of a huge financial burden, dancing when you are going to the dentist kind of thing ?
