I lifted a post I had made on Just Helicopters. What are your opinions?

When does the SFAR expire?
---
SFAR 73 expires Dec 31, 2002, unless sooner superseded or rescinded.

---
The sole purpose of SFAR 73 was to cover the collective asses of the FAA and Robinson and was implemented because 31 R22s and R44s had suffered rotor loss or rotor incursion. Since the SFAR was put into force there have been no rotor loss or rotor incursion accidents. That is, until last year and then there were four losses of aircraft, crew and passengers due to mast separation or, rotor incursion.

If in fact the SFAR served the purpose of limiting if not eliminating rotor loss or rotor incursion accidents then it is totally stupid to let it expire in 2002. What happens to the students that are trained in Robinson helicopters after the cancellation of the SFAR and what about those that purchase new Robinson helicopters? What about their training requirements? From past experience, if an operator is not forced to do something or, the requirement is lifted they won’t do it any more. That is, unless it effects safety or, their bottom line so in light of that how is the rescinding of SFAR 73 going to effect the training of new student pilots after 2002?
