Many years ago, I used to do charter. There is a testing facility in the Upington area for some car manufacturer.( I think it's Audi) They put whole cars & parts of cars out in the harsh African sun, and then just wait to see what happens. They used to bring over a 747 cargo flight every year around November. Perhaps that's who the aircraft belonged to.

Have delivered cars to UPV but also picked up grapes from there. Nice people at airport and in the local area.

Remember German Cargo operating DC8s in the late 80s early 90s mainly in Africa. They are part of the Luft Cargo group now. For the history look here (http://airlines.afriqonline.com/airlines/726.htm)

Did a flight with a 727 - ZS-IJF a year or two ago. Volkswagen have their testing facility there. We picked up 85 Volkswagen Engineers and Test drivers and brought them to JNB.

A Cargolux 747 were standing on the mac loading cars and spares etc. They also fly grapes and other fruit directly from UPV on a regular basis.
