We have a client staging through Port Morseby for two nights in his GV, during this time they require appropiate accomodation for VIP's etc

Any suggestions on which hotel is best are welcome,

Thanks

Maybe sleeping in the GV would be the best option! :uhoh:

Dunno about any good places in Moresby but I can tell of a few places in PNG which I would'nt recommend!!:uhoh: :E
Suspect that Chuckles, Ozexpat et al could add to the list as well!

Gateway's pretty good.

Gateway's pretty good, close to the airport, but Airways Lodge is a bit more upmarket. Rooms run at about K440 per night for the Corporate rooms.
Also, the security is a bit better at the Airways than Gateway.
There are good hotels in town like the Crown, but we've always stayed at the airport and I've not stayed in the Crown since it was taken over from the Travel-Lodge.
Hope that helps

Gateway or Airport Lodge. Don't leave the airport area.

Suggest indoors and away from windows.

Our lot were staying at the Crown Plaza (in town) or at the Airways Motel (near the airport).

Both are very good, but the Airways is possibly a little more secure and safer if females are travelling ie, you can't just pop down the street.

Stayed in the Airways three weeks ago. I recommend it, because it is secure, clean, modern, well maintained and the Balus Bar is terrific!

Airways is our preferred place. Don't go out if you don't have to.

Yes Chuck, there really is a better place than 6 Mile to "pick up a little something to take home to the wife". It's the Balus Bar... much more upmarket than 6 Mile, but the same basic quality... :uhoh:

Anyway, to add my reply to the original question, either the Airways Hotel at the airport, or the Crowne Plaza in town. Both have courtesy vehicles for airport transfers and both have very good security. I think that Pondo Tavern at the Crowne Plaza is better than the Balus Bar at the Airways - both for environment and clientel. ;)

If choosing the Crowne Plaza and wanting to dine out, there's a place above Asian Aromas, owned by the same bloke. It's a Japanese restaurant called the Ichizen, catering both Teppanyaki and ala carte sushi/ sashimi, if you like that sort of thing.
