Was paxing out of LHR yesterday (9th Nov) and as I was on my to the gate at around 14:20 local I noticed a single engined light aircraft taxying along the now ex 23.

It was too far away for me to get a number and I couldn't be sure of type. All I can say was that it had a white upper fuselage and red lower-half/underside. Also noticed it had tip-tanks.

If anyone could shed any further light on what it was and why it happenned to be there it would be appreaciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Umm tip tanks on a single not to sure!

Twins it could have been a Cessna 310, 410, 405 or a Piper P31.

Maybe a 210 with Long range tanks but i dont think so.

Was it low wing?

Some Bonanzas have tip tanks I think, certainly the SF-260 does, also perhaps the Siai Marchetti S-208 and some Navions? Hard to remember now... senility beckons!

Yeah sorry, should have said it was a low wing a/c. Didn't look bonanza-esque, more like a Tomahawk (i.e. that tadpole shape) only without the T tail empennage. If that helps any.
