Hi there,

Just moved to San Francisco from Australia. Wondering if there are any Aussie pilots here who could give me some advice. Have 800 hours pic, and a US passport. Cant seem to get over this 1200hr minimum hurdle. Need direction.

Any info would be good info.

Not an Aussie here, but it depends on what you are willing to take.

The regional carriers are hiring at less than what you have. Piedmont, for example. Look at the regionals and you may have success. Wish you well.

bafanguy is right...

part 135 cant hire you on single pilot operations. Go for the regionals... Colgan on the east cost will probably look at you...they are i beleive expanding in Texas as well. Great Lakes out of Denver, Mesa, Sky West etc will look at you.

Its not like Australia where you have to go fly GA first... go straight for the regionals!! Good luck, PM me if you want any more help.... I can put you in contact with a few people who can point you in the right direction.

180B,

sent in your application to Express Jet, that's Continenal's Regional. A co pilot with my company just got hired with 600hrs. There is no sim check just an interview and test exams.

You could check out Amerifreight too, they operate all over and have lots of diferent types and take low time guys. Main base is in south Cal.

Colgan is advertising for FOs with 600 hours. Not much of a company by all accounts, but it'll keep you eating until a better deal comes along.
