I see that Aerlingus, Ryanair and Air Baltic have now flights from Dublin to Riga, What odds that this will be the next route out of Cork. It may seem far fetched but who would have thought that ORK PRG BUD AND WAW would be operating. From what I hear bookings on ORK WaW
are very strong and are way ahead of expectations. Malev load factors haev also picked up in recent weeks and BMI have renewed their interest in ORK LHR

It might happen - but probably with FR. Indeed Prague, Budapest and Warsaw and working very well (in particular Prague with a large proportion of transit passengers). However it would be nice to see some flighte to Germany as this is totally underserved from Cork. Perhaps Air Berlin, Hapag Lloyd might look at Cork soon.

The problem with Cork is that there are only so many routes that can be made work. Munich didnt work for Aer Lingus, for example. The future for Cork is x2/x3 weekly flights to eastern European destinations which have a strong 'City Break' and ex-pat potential. There is also a strong market for flights to England and the main european citys. Along with the usual charter destinations. Finally a small number of trans atlantic routes could work, eg JFK BOS and MCO.

The only German destination that could work would be Frankfurt and there would need to be a healthy relationship with LH for that to work. FCO, WAW and PRG all worked because they csn serve both markets. German cities, in general do not have a strong ex-pat potential nor would city break potential be strong.
