Hi,
My daughter just came to use word, and it seems that all the fonts are missing, the box which usually contains the font names now contains "device font XX cpi" instead of the usual font names.
She insists she did nothing, this also happens in Powerpoint but outlook is OK
Any advice would be appreciated, She needs to finish some homework :uhoh:
Regards

Easy, look in Control Panel --> Printers.

Bet you have text/generic set as default instead of a real printer.

Right click on a real printer and select "set as default".

AMOFW,
Can't find where it gives you the choice,
I've gone to the printers folder but cant see what you refer to in there
Could you give me an idiots guide?
Regards.

When in the printer panel click View from the menu bar and select large icons

You should get a series of icons - one will have a tick in it, in your case this will be the Generic/Text only 'printer'. It will look something similar to:

Right-click on the printer icon you wish to use and select set as default printer - the tick should then move accordingly and your problem will be resolved.

Instructions may vary slightly depending on the operating system in use (the above works for Windows 2000).
