Hi guys, heres a quick question we were wondering about. BESIDES the airline pilots, whats the highest time on type anyone knows about in SA?? Heard someone being reffered to as " the guy with the most Baron hours in SA," so this discussion came up....any ideas??

You may want to consider the CFI at the Pietermaritzburg Aero Club. Thousands and thousands of hours on C150 and C172's. I believe he got the "T" shirt from Cessna.

Would be nice to know cause he is a very experienced instructor and a fab chap.

A bloke who owned a small charter company in Lesotho must have close to the highest C206 time in the world with about four hours short of ten thousand hours on type.:ooh:

King Red....think u r right on with this one.
MB as far as I know was recognized a few yrs back by Cessna after completing 15000 hrs on a C150.
Scholar and gentleman....always a smile with that ever confident and professional side grin.
Keep on going MB...have never forgotten the pleasant surroundings at PMB Aero club at the begining of the 80's.

"Sluggy" ( A.K.A. S L L from Brakpan airfield) must rate up there with the best in terms of hours sitting in the right seat of a Cherokee 140.

I've heard of a retired oom from Bloem with plenty hrs on 210's, was involved with the Avbob flights at one time. Apparently he got the Cessna T-shirt too!

I think "Oom Gus", who owned the flying school at Eros also had a few Cessna T-shirts.

Apparently Pieter Wesselmann at GHFC in CT has 11 or 12 thousand on TraumaHawks.

Personally i would kill some one if i had that amount of time,(partly from boredom and partly from frustration) only got a few hundred on traumahawks but already wanting to find something more interesting. But really huge amounts of PATIENCE must be required. Very admirable would love to speak to the individuals involved and find out exact amounts. :ok:

There was that one guy who used to fly for Rossair(ran into him in Algeria about 3 years ago), I can't remember his name. He was a short stocky guy-apparently he flew in Maun on C206's for a long time and hit well above the five figure on the machine. Rumoured to be close to be asked as Cessna test pilot...Rumour???? someone help me out here

Early last year we had a B747- Classic captain retire at age 60, who got his command on 747's at 32!! (The days when there was growth in SAA!). Spent the entire time as P1 on Classics. Don't think there is anyone in the world with that much P1 time on B747 classics!!

Collin Brock is the person with probably more 206 hours than anyone else around.

I am under correction, but I think he has over 12000 hours on 206's,and 99% of that time is in the mountains.

He was (still is),known as the "man of the mountains" and knew Lesotho better than any other person around.

Remember, his time is P1 polling time and not instructional.

He is now polling Twotters around the skies.
