.......... It depends who's estimating.

Rotary pilots are possibly more vulnerable to complaints from the public about "low flying".
I've posted a thread on R&N which may be of interest to Rotorheads even though the incident involved fixed-wing pilots.
See: <A HREF="http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/Forum1/HTML/011275.html" TARGET="_blank">http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/Forum1/HTML/011275.html</A>

Probably best to post on that thread rather than start a new one here.

At 500ft you can see the legs of cows but not of sheep. At 250ft the legs of sheep are clearly seen.

That depends upon if the sheep are shaven. (shaved?) hehehe ...

Life is fun in the states, going down the coastline at 500' .... ahhhhhhhh.

I was taught that above 250' sheep ignore you, at 250' they look up, below 250' they run away.

Believe me, there are some sheep that run away even when you are above 1000', and those that ignore you below 100'. They are usually the ugly ones, though!!!

I thought they were maggots, not sheep...

AGL, AMSL, MSD, QFE, QNH, it's all relevant.

Dangerous interest in sheep here peeps... I've been flying over the Everglades for a bit and knowing that copters are allowed to bend the 500 rule as long as there's no danger to man and his commercial interests, I have found that alligators don't complain about ridiculously low level flying at all until the engine goes... and then they're more than happy to bare their teeth and voice their displeasure. However endangering the dangerous does'nt count in the Grand old USA. So low level is not only a joy but a danger only to yourself and other egg beaters with the same interests. Anyway keep up your cow and sheep spotting, I'll be in the same field soon.
