SIA - Generalist Salary

Hi all,

First, sorry as this is not directly related to piloting.

I'm thinking of applying to SIA as a Generalist - that's an administrative position for fresh graduates who don't want to be pilots.

I was wondering what the starting salary levels are like in that job? I'm sure it's not as high as piloting, but I'm interested to know, more or less, what range it's in. ~$2k? ~$3k? ~$4k? Or am I having wet dreams lol :D

Ruykava. You got me there on what sort of area you are even looking at. I take it in the operations side of SIA.?? But even then if I did know, I could only hazarad a guess at the 3-4 k mark, and take that with a large pinch of salt!

haha well, i'm not entirely sure if it's ops as well! but it certainly doesn't involve being a flight crew.

which all sounds very interesting, but don't all job adverts sound interesting before you check out the paycheck and the hours? :E

thanks CDRW for the response. i'm not singaporean, but i'm interested in working in singapore after my degree as some of my family is there, and i thought SIA is probably one of the best possible places to start =) but still, interested if i can live a nice comfy life with what they're paying ;)

Funnily enough I'm just staring at the same ad on the SQ website - sounds like it covers quite a broad spectrum of roles, not so sure it's Ops-orientated though.

A couple of Flight Dispatchers recently joined my present company from SQ (I can only assume for a step up the old ladder) which, if more money was their primary motivator, then the salaries at SQ couldn't have been that hot coz we earn Jack Sh:mad: t.....

Expat salaries aren't what they used to be.

hi thanks for the tip.

basically i'm starting from zero so i'm not too concerned about the exact salary vis-a-vis other airlines/companies, and somehow i don't think they're gona treat me as an expat :p

but i am concerned about the type of life i'd be living (hence interested in the salary range) and how i'd move on from there - i mean, don't want to get stuck in one dead-end position, right at the start of my career! :D

So how have you guys got on?? I think tho that Seaton may be quite correct when he comments on the salaries - SQ is not the best, by a long shot, when it comes to renumeration packages - unless your a general!

The type of life you would be living, in my opinion is directly proportinal to the salary, and with what you suggest, it looks like you would have to have a mighty frugal style, but as you say you are starting out from the begining. Advancement - that sorry, I can not answer. Good luck.
