We have a number, of which here is the latest addition...

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a282/sschofield/Barney002.jpg

Barney (Who, oddly enough, turned out to be a girl when she was old enough to be able to tell the difference, but the name's stuck... ). She was found in the hay barn at the Father-In-Law's farm, cold and abandoned with her 2 brothers. We took all 3 in to rear them by hand, but the other 2 never would have made it, they only survived 2 more days, whilst Barney now terrorises all other inhabitants of the house!

How adorable, working closely with the RSPCA I used to see some horrible abandoment cases of young animals, one kitten even sent through the mail service in a jiffy bag first class and he survived, god knows how but he did. I used to take as many home as I could and then take them to a friend who had a rescue sanctuary for cats and she kept them until they were rehomed or become old and grey. Puppies too in bags and left to die!

Humans can be so so incrediable cruel :*

Tinker's probably watched Kelly's Heroes on the TV sometime. He'd probably concur with dopey Donald Sutherland's mumbling in the movie: "We like to think that we're just recuperating, marking time for when the Hun (or in this case, a mouse gets into the house) and we have to repulse the attack! (or something to that effect)" And that's why they were drinking French wine, smoking fine herbs and just lying about in the sun all day... ;)

Deep within a forest, a little turtle began to climb a tree. After hours of effort, he reached the top, jumped into the air waving his front legs and crashed to the ground. After recovering, he slowly climbed the tree again, jumped, and fell to the ground. The turtle tried again and again, while a couple of birds sitting on a branch watched his sad efforts. Finally, the female bird turned to her mate. "Dear," she chirped, "I think it's time to tell him he's adopted."

Is this a good time to tell my mate Judes her turtle is older than me?

Is it just me, or is (was) there something going on between these 2 of which we aren't fully aware...

Watch the next episode of (JB) SOAP and find out whether Judes ever had Jerricho. Turtles are slow which is probably why they live to a ripe old age, but did Judes really ever pose the question ""Are you quite finished, dear?" in Jerricho's presence... :O

Judy's obviously into longterm relationships. I used to have tortoises too, Jude, but they kept running away.

The pic below was lifted off the net. All the pictures I had of Lump disappeared long ago. She was a young peccary and I would recommend them to anyone. Anyone single, that is, who has a big house and lots of garden or yard. Affectionate, spicnspan clean, intelligent, great footwarmer and one hell of a, err., guardpig. You do NOT want to enter its territory unaccompanied by its owner (the peccary of course doesn't know about "owner", thinks I'm her pet) unless you fancy shredded legs.
