Does anyone know what is going to happen to all those Lynx once the Apache gets into service?

One rumour is that they are going to be reconditioned and sent out again, is this true?

Yep, that's the plan. but then, so was the Apache and Merlin in service by 2000. As was the Nimrod AEW, the Eurofighter, the TSR2, etc. What wastelands have in mind seemed like a good idea back in 1996 when they first put forward the proposals. Sadly, by the time it's been around the various HQ's, Buffhoons puzzle palace and, most importantly of all, the treasury, it will be about 10 years out of date and 15 years behind the times. Shame really 'cos if you can get one out of the hangar it's a brilliant aircraft to fly.

Prior to even considering the Apache the UK MOD should have read this report. The report was written in 1990 but for all intents and purposes, it still applies.

United States General Accounting Office
GAO/NSIAD-90-294
APACHE HELICOPTER
Serious Logistical Support Problems
Must Be Solved to Realize Combat Potential

If the Apache were an A** H*** it would have to get rebushed as this report really rips the Apache to small bits.

I would assume that the report is available through the US Government Printing Office in Washington, DC
