I managed to delete the desktop icon from my quick launch bar. Any idea where it lives so that I can send it back to the desktop?

C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Show Desktop.
Note that Application Data is a hidden folder, so you will need to alter the properties to view it - if you haven't already done so.
