Hello Everyone,

Just a few questions I would love to have answered about Qatar Airways, please?

I have heard that Qatar run a cadet scheme for "zero hour" pilots, I belive on completion of the course they join as second officers>??? First of all what are the conditions like for these guys?? What are the minimum requirements to join this scheme?

Secondly, are the company going to be running this sort of scheme on an ongoing basis??

Thirdly, are there any other schemes of this nature in the middle east??

Fourthly, what are the living conditions like? I am very familiar with the UAE, how does it compare?? Does Qatar provide accomodation?? Is there any nightlife??

Any answers would be absolutely amazing.

Thanks a lot people,

SSU99

Hi

Rather than starting a new thread thought I'd tag this one onto SunnysideUp's to see if any of the guys out thre can give me a heads up on QR.

Just recently been for an interview with QR and have been offered A320 RHS. I've 4000 hrs, and I'm with a european low fares airline at the mo. Can anyone give me updated info on hrs flown per year, night stops, getting back home to the uk, rostering, staff travel etc etc.

Im aware that QR has several non positve threads on this website but there fairly out of date. Any direction/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

regards

Hi SSU99
If you are referring to the Cadet Pilot Scheme presently being conducted under the Ministry of Education Sponsorship at the Aviation College in Doha then it’s only available to Qatari Nationals. Minimum Requirement I understand is being a Qatari National and I suspect being able to drive a land cruiser like a demented idiot.

:ok:

.....i donīt even call that driving Onthouse.....

Some off those criminal drivers should really need to pass a pscychological test before being issued a driving licence!

Hi loc22550

Absolutely agree with you, I hope they fly better than they drive?

The way the people drive reflect a lot about their manner and personnality.
When you see here the way they drive, you understand everything....

SS99,

And to completed the answer of Onthouse, i can answerd your fourth question:

If you used to the UAE, be prepared for a chock coming here.

Nothing is really organised, Qatar is probably the country with the highest density of idiots per square kilometer (lucky qatar is one of the smallest country in the world.....).
On the road already you will have a marvelous example of the stupidity of the people.

Qatar is probably the only country where you need a Visa To EXIT the country, and pay for it of course!!!!(they donīt known what to do with their billions of dollars but anyway...).

Night life, nothing to compare with UAE.

No really...itīs an intersesting place....
cheers.
