View Full Version : Ireland-Egypt flights

Are there any plans for charter flights between Dublin/Ireland and Egypt? It seems surprising that till now there are no connections from Ireland to places like Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor, Cairo, etc

With the popularity of Egypt it seems odd that there are no flights even though there are operations to the North African countries of Tunisia and Morrocco.

Thanks

Eirjet have operated between Dublin and Luxor this summer. Lotus operated the DUB-LXR route in the past. It would be nice to see a year-round service and with more destinations served. The traditional Irish family favourites (TFS, PMI, ACE, LPA, AGP, etc) still dominate the charter scene in Ireland. So if anyone wants to visit the likes of north Africa, the Caribbean, Vancouver, and countless beautiful Greek islands (eg Skiathos, Santorini) they usually have to go through the UK.

Hi,

Panorama Holidays will be offering a direct service from Dublin-Sharm El Sheikh and Agadir from Summer 2006, although there is currently no information on which airline will be operating the route.

piston pete, Dublin to Luxor on an (eirjet) A320 during the summer??? temperatures can reach 50C in LXR during August! That must have pushed the aircraft to the limit? Would there have been severe weight restrictions?

Thomas_Cook_757-300, that is good news. Which charter airline do Panorama Holidays usually use?

BTW, thanks for your answers

"pushed to the limit".....pushed it to the end of the runway before start up saving enough gas to get us safely back to Dub:-)

Go green and white jetz!

Global Pilot, did you ever need to make a technical stop en-route for re-fuelling? It's seems to be cutting it a little fine....

How long did this DUB-LXR charter programme run? Usually the Luxor/Aswan high tourist season is during the winter months when the weather is much more bearable. Any plans for such flights winter05/06?

Not Egypt but around 10 years back or a little more there was a short series of flights to the Holy Land from Cork. Flights were flown by El Al 757 and there was no trouble taking off at Cork on the small number of flights that flew directly to Israel. The other flights went via DUB. Must have been 6 hours plus from Cork to Tel Aviv?

Hi,

Panorama mainly utilise MyTravel Airways although they sometimes use the services of local airlines such as Lotus.

Thanks

Futura also operated a route to Luxor during the summer, I really can't imagine a B737 on such a long flight! Even if it was an -800 series!!!

So that's DUB-SSH and BFS-SSH next summer. I guess ORK-SSH would be asking too much?

Any idea what airlines/aircraft will operate these flights?

The BFS-SSH flights this Summer have been cancelled, but are planning to start at a later date.

Lotus Air were asked to operate it before they cancelled it.

Sorry don't know about DUB.

richardnei, any reason why the BFS-SSH route was cancelled? Would of been nice to finally have an Egyptian airline operate a regular (charter) service to Northern Ireland/Britain.

Flightrider, thanks for pointing that out. It's on DUB's website in the Arrivals section:
SHARM EL SHEIKH MONARCH MON2787 09/03/2006 22:45
Is this a regular charter or a one off?
