Hi,
Dont know if you knowledgeable people can help me ..but here goes,
I'm trying to put an operating system onto a pc, goes thru the initial stages but on reboot it comes up with a protection error,
"while initialising device IOS"
Google can only come up with a greek island... Dont think it is that :bored:
Any one any clues what IOS might be?
Ideas greatly appreciated

You don't mention which OS. However, assuming it is one of Mr Gates' fine(?) products, are you installing on a 'bare-bones' system ?

I.e. CPU, Motherboard, CD drive, hard drive, memory only.

You can get some serious nasties/funnies otherwise.

Try with the basics then once you have a stable & updated system add the extras as it were.

Apologies if I am telling Grandma how to suck eggs.

Well....
After much reading (thanks terrain, I think!) and much hair pulling. I decided to reformat the hard disk and re install, which worked.
Still dont understand what happened tho,

But many thanks for the suggestions. :ok:
