A Qantas Airlines Boeing 747 with 389 passengers on board en route to Singapore from London made an emergency landing at the N S C Bose International Airport here today(Oct 18).
All the passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the aircraft after landing, airport sources said.
The plane touched down at 12.52 p.m. with the Air Traffic Control declaring full emergency measures for the aircraft of the Australian airlines.
Fire tenders and ambulances stood by.
The sources said that there was apparently some indication of smoke or fire in the cockpit, but the exact reason would be known only after a thorough examination of the aircraft. (Agencies)
