Hi buddies,

I am just back from KAL interview. They are quite straight forward in their approach and you are well briefed about do's and dont's.

I passed the sim check withut problem. The nest day medical:

I was surprised (not in a pleasant way) to hear that they would not let me work for them because of the bypasses I have. Korea does not allow a (ex) heart surgery...
I am going home and will fly next week my B744 at KLM. Very annoying these medicals standars differences. I did advise KAL of my history before getting there.... They agreed and let me come from the other side to let me know, after the sim check that I am not fit for them.
Crazy world...JAA medical are suppose to be high standards...Why arn't we trying, as pilots to standardize a little our medicals?
ARINC has done that with succes...Why not the medicals?

Amen brother.

The standard required is for a 25 year old Korean Air force officer. If you are 25 or 35 it is no problem, but after 50 the requirements are unrealistic. Much of the Asian airlines use the outdated medical requirements.

hi lion
how long did you wait to be called for an interview (sia cargo and korean)?
why do you want to leave KLM to go to kal or sin cargo?
anyway, good luck.

sometimes KAL operates their medical center to control their pilots.
they think that this is the most practical way to make their pilots obedient to company.
sim check also. watch out!;)
