Does anybody have any experience with using an R44 for electric transmission line inspection activities? I'm not pro or con on this issue-just asking for opinions on this aircraft selection.

Thanks,
CY

CY,
Definately pro. Over 1000hrs of this type of work in the R44 & they are well suited to the task. Even remote area repairs carrying chain saws etc are no problem as generally if you can shut the doors it'll fly!!( of course subject to appropriate government regulations, manufacturers specifications &TODA)

That may be true for the bigger towers, but I certainly wouldn't recommend one for 11 kv work. The 206 is the minimum IMHO - AS355 if you need a twin, but 407 otherwise
