Hi everyone,

I am trying to find information about converting either a JAA or FAA ATP to a brazilian one. The website from the DSA is not very helpful. I think i need to take a medical, and flight tests, and writtens possibly? If so, are they in portuguese, or in english?

If anyone can help, please let me know.
Thanks.

I tryied to find some info on the DAC website, but it not very user friendly, so I suggest you to sent them an email, there is a form here:
http://www.dac.gov.br/institucionaling/email.asp

The subject dropdown has an option "co-validation of foreign licenses"

Good luck!

I would recommend going from the FAA to the DAC as I haven’t heard many JAA to DAC yet..me being one that did not even bother with that;

Good luck.

I did the process in May of 2004. It has gotten better over the years but it's still long and tedious. I had all FAA licenses.
First I had to get the medical, then I had to do an IFR written test, 5 hours of flight time and then the checkride. It doesn't seem much but with all of the bureocratic stuff going on, it took me 8 months. I hope this helps.

I did it in 98 and also took 8 months from life the FAA to DAC conversion. But I’ve met people that did in 2 months…go figure.:8
