Can anyone help with the location of this airfield? I know it is a Vulcan and there is a Jaguar in bits on low loaders by the hanger, but if anyone can help anymore with info on it I'd be grateful.

Yes, I'd go with Abingdon back before it was shamefully handed over to the dung-eaters and their lorries.

Presumably the Vulcan was the ex-27 Sqn B2(MRR) which was flown in supposedly for BoB static displays? But ended up over on the scrap dump before being ripped to bits by the scrappies, along with all the useless AEW3 Nimrods? A great intoduction to the RAF for our students that was - the sight of decaying a/c being scrapped.

Definitely Abingdon. The link shows the same area from a different angle, taken in 1968 during the Royal Review.

(Fab shot though - Lincoln, Brit, all three Vs, biplanes, and a couple of tantalising shapes by the watch office - Mossie and Wellington?).

Would go for the "Crash n Bash " hangar as I am sure the Jag majors were in the one on the left. That said, as I spent most of my time on 71MU on the road, and in the bar at W-o-G at w/ ends the memory is a little hazy !. I do recall all the plastic kits were at the other end of the MU hangar though--and at the other end--was a Scimitar which was used for battle damage evaluation.

Without a doubt it is Abingdon. I have actually sheltered under that wing when it was chucking it down at one unmemorable Battle of Britain show
