Ashton aviation have apparently gone belly up, it seems they went into administration last week allegedly owing money to a number of people. The aircraft they were using for training now has a large sticker on it from the airport informing all that it is not to be used - generally known as a lean!!

Northumbria Helicopters is still operating from EGNT, the main difference being they own 5 helicopters and should therefore be fairly stable

It's a 'lien' - pronounced 'lee-enn' - the right to keep the property belonging to someone else until they pay a debt they owe.

Sometimes people do 'lean' on others to pay a debt, but that's different
- and may be illegal depending upon what form the leaning takes. :)

Apparently while flying to EGNC recently with a student on board the owner was refused permission to land due to unpaid landing fees. Writing was on the wall then.
