Within the Companies that you fly for or operate what sort of issues are being created by the present Insurance model that is being applied.
1. Are you seeing extra pressure being placed on individual pilots to fly more hours where if another aircraft was on line this pressure would have been diluted?
2. Is maintenance being neglected because of the high use of these aircraft?
3. Because the pilots are rotating through the one aircraft in an endevour to give pilots a break do you seem to always be carrying snags?

Comments?

We used to swap insurance from one aircraft to another when convenient. Now we have lost that option, we have several aircraft insured all the time, instead of just one being insured most of the the time. Expensive true, but that cost must be passed to the customer. So now that we have 3 machines insured full time we can operate them all or only 1 at a time. This has meant that we actually have more aircraft available to us when one of the primary aircraft is in for maintenance. Therefore it spends more time in the shop because it can, and gets a more "complete" 100 hourly or annual etc.

When we only had one aircraft insured, the pressure was on the one pilot (me) to get all the work done with the one machine. Now that more aircraft are available it's no problem to call on help to jump in another aircraft to help out.

Only works if you can pass on the cost. Higher cost of fuel, higher cost of Insurance.. Time for a price rise guys. Dont be shy now.
