A project to upgrade Aberdeen airport's departute lounge has began,it was confirmed yesterday.
An additional 300 seats will be available over two floors when the new lounge is unveiled early next year.
The new area will be built on an external site next to the existing international lounge, increasing the area by 8,966sq ft.
The devlopment comes as Aberdeen airport goes through a crucial period of expansion following the lifting of a flights curfew earlier this year.
In the last 12 months,15 new services* have been introduced...
Airport Managing Director Andy Flower said:"This is the latest phase in our ongoing programme of development to meet the needs of the steadily increasing number of travellers".
The expanded lounge will also be home to additional shops, restaurants and cafes.
The announcement came a day after it emerged that the airport had secured a regular service to Stornoway.

* many of the "new" routes are routes previously dropped but reactivated.
More good news about the airport at least.
