Flying in to Belfast City this afternoon (arrival about 16:20), I noticed a BMI A321 parked over on the other side of the airport.

Lots of vehicles around the aircraft and the left hand (No1 ?) engine sitting on a cradle off to one side. It appears it had been removed with some sort of telehandler.

Does anyone have any more details. Did a check indicate a problem or did the P&T check before takeoff signify a "small issue".

I would have thought BMI would have preferred an engine change at EMA or LHR rather than the City (Although the runway length may have precluded a one engine escape, even with crew only!!!)

Thanks in advance,

Shuttlebus

Errr, on a 2 engined aeroplane-I don't think the runway length was the only factor!
