A few months ago I carried out a substantial upgrade of this PC including new motherboard and processor, additional hard drive and replacing the CD/R with a DVD R/W.
Ever since, the boot up sequence has included the message "Secondary IDE channel no 80 conductor cable installed".
I've not been that concerned because the machine works perfectly well, to the best of my knowledge and belief.
Any ideas if this message is spurious or does it require attention?

Thanks in advance,

You may have an old 40 pin cable, see here (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html). If so, new ones are cheap.
