George Tower......this post is specifically aimed at you, Now I know SAA is not going to be flying there soon, much to any flight crew who has been there recently's amazament, seeing as most flights are damn near full on a 737-800..........but anyway

But was wondering, The Notams say there are intermittent fade and clutter areas with regard to your radar.........now to me this says you are still using primary radar at George, if so, was wondering how come you dont have seconadry SSR radar at George yet, even though Cape Town can see us pretty soon after take off, surely its just a repeater required in your tower?

Also,do you still want us to give our radial and DME from GGV on initial contact with you??

George doesn't have any radar facilities at all, all they have is a VDF system, so they can more or less see on what radial you are, but that's it. There is speculation of some sort of new radar that might be fitted. I agree with you this is a bit of pain!
