In light of the current threat of terrorism in the UK you would think that our airport security would be the best in the business. I was somewhat surprised today when passing through a large German apt with a collegue en route the the UK. My collegue was stopped & his bag searched. They didn't stop searching until they found some large scissors in one pocket of his carry on that he had forgotten about. They must have seen this on xray. They had three layers of security for BA flights including further intensive searches at the gate including a metal detector of some kind on everyone's shoes. The worrying thing is that he'd already travelled from the UK to Germany with the scissors undetected in his baggage.
