OK,

I know this topic is not new, but it would be worth rummaging the collective for all the top tips.

Personally, I'm about to move house and I need to know exactly what is covered by the forces in terms of Life insurace and Critical Illness cover, so I can get the excess covered by a 3rd party agent.

To start the ball rolling, this is my sit:-

(RAF Off, in since 98, PC)

Dependants fund member (35p a month => £6750 tax free lump sum to cover the funaral bash)

DINCOM90 - 3 units at £3.50 each per month (I'm not sure the latest figures, but I got them when I was 24 (now 29), I understand I get £10,000 for each one given to my dependant? What other ways are they used?? Anyone know?)

AFPS75 - Yup, I decided to stay! (Probably leaving at 16/38 pt). I understand it'll be 3 x pensionable salary tax free, plus some other pension bits and bobs - anyone explain the rough deal for me?

I know the info is all out there, and admin dep. can help, but it would be helpful to me and others to have an 'easy' ref. here on the site.

All in all I'm guessing that the payout would be around £140K plus some monthly payments.....

Useful sites I've found so far:-

http://www.veteransagency.mod.uk/index.htm

http://www.rafcom.co.uk/

http://www.mod.uk/issues/pensions/pensions_calculator.htm

This last link is v. useful if you are interested in the 75 vs 05 AFPS decision.

Can anyone help me further?
