Try this: (and put that calculator away!)

Begin with 1000

Make it 5000?

If so, you're miles out, and so was I when I tried it!

That's probably because you're thick.

no it makes

4100

40 + 30 + 20 + 10 = 100

1000 x 4 = 4000

4000+100 = 4100

without a calculator, never trust them only as good as the person who inputs the data!

TnT :ok:

I may be way out though it is friday afternoon
:p

Alas probably true, Onan, but i'm in good company. So far three out of four people have got it wrong...but then again, Broadmoor might not be a representative environment..:p

But I see the temptation.

Amazing. I was too stupid as well. And so far I took pride in my mental arithmetics.

OK, here's another

You drive your bus out of the depot on a standard run.

At stop A, 17 passengers embark.

At stop B, 8 disembark and a further 17 embark.

At stop C, 8 disembark and a further 17 embark (some of the 8 are from stop B).

At stop D, 17 disembark and 8 embark.

At stop E, 17 disembark and 8 embark.

And the question is:- What is the name of the bus driver? (No thinking time allowed.)

BALIX

The bus driver is called Balix, at least when I work it out...

Actually, that's just what I thought, but my mate Fred insists that's a load of you know what, Balix.

Try this one in 10secs............. What's half of 99?

Be honest give it a go.

Also...how to win at darts. This can be 301 or 501 (double to start and double it for the other player) every score the other player makes he/she has to double it (you can say to give them a chance) Start on a double and double it. All scores from your pal have then to be doubled throughout game.

The best bit is when they try to finish, you win every time.
