I've seen 698kts in a 747-200 from Narita to Nadi, but I didn't have a camera with me.

Must go out into the garage and find the box with the old negative photos in it.

Have one in a C421C with 430kts GS (TAS 205) enroute, Perth Adelaide, utlimately Melbourne in the '80's. Midwinter, gin clear day. Chickened out at Adelaide but direct Melbourne was possible from over Ceduna. It held up all the way to AD.

So was I, it was a jetstream we occasionally get em down that low that time of the year.

Had planned FL 190 on the forecast +150kts and was departing about 15 mins behind a factory demo GV cleared to FL350 and when I got onto Control frequency he was negotiating a amendment back down to FL250 having monitored the wind on climb.
So why wouldn't you go there too, they held me down for a bit in case I ran over the GV.:rolleyes:

Never thought about it as being any sort of record just what you do.

The 421C is why Cessna didn't go into the turboprop market until 1978. It would do everything the C90 could do and more for about half the price and cost.
