View Full Version : Conservatories II

The heated :} (sorry) discussion on the other thead prompts me to ask.....

I'm thinking of having a conservatory on the back of the house.

Can anyone firmly recommend a "system" to go for, please?

By "system" I mean the manufacturer of the raw elements, such as Rahau, Swish etc. The people who make the frame sections, retaining bead, etc.

(as opposed to the rob-you-blind fitting-in-a-day companies who don't make their own basic sections)

Hope that makes sense. :uhoh:

Be a first for me if it does.

We bought ours from a proper conservatory installer who was an agent for a company in Newcastle (Mr Draper, can you confirm) called Houseproud Conservatories.
That was all they manufactured. In fact, I needed one other double glazed window at the time, but when I asked, they told me (rather abruptly) that they did not supply windows at all.

Excellent quality conservatory, decent price.

I would suggest knocking on people's doors and asking them about their conservatory and would they recommend the company. People are quite happy to talk to strangers about things like this and you will get unbiassed answers. And don't forget its the whole package you are interested in; quality of conservatory, quality of installation, quality of aftersales etc.
