Bmi - Work For Them Or Not ????

I have read almost all posts about BMI and I got upset and don't know what to do. I need a true advice...

I have been working as cc for a couple of years for LOT, Poland. Last year I decided to change the airline cause working conditions and salary got worse and ther is

to be continue......

and there is absolutely NO career path!!!!

So I decided to apply BA and BMI.
Unfortunately BA turned my application away.... :ugh:

So I sent my CV to BMI and after 4 days I received an application form from them and a brief of conditions.

But almost all posts regarding BMI say that it is better not to apply them...

What it the truth????
What should I do.. apply or not???
Is it really that bad???

Meybe BA is really better, but it is over for me for this year and so far I thought that BMI is worth applying......

If you went on the advice of postings on this website you might not actually want to work for any airline! I think that people often just vent their frustrations here when they have had a bad day.

Seriously though if you are that unhappy at LOT why not try BMI and see how you get along. If you dont like it you can always leave.

You could always apply to Virgin too.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

If you don't try you won't know so you might as welll see what they're like...if the conditions are bad at your current place then what have you got to lose!?

Virgin would be a good idea. There were lots of people from all over Europe at the assessment day i went to, and a few of them got final interviews as well.

There isn't one airline in the world that is perfect or has absolutely ideal conditions for cabin crew, and a lot of members of this website choose to attack the down sides of a particular airline, and in some cases make them a lot worse than they seem. It's an excellent community to vent & to learn a bit about the industry, but everything has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

bmi has it's difficulties, and at the moment is going through a bit of a rough patch in testing out new ideas & product "enhancements" which isn't going down too well with the crews. Now it seems the company is like working for any other no-frills outfit, however you can progress onto more senior positions or longhaul fairly quickly if all is to be believed that mainline has an extremely high turn over of staff.

I can't speak for conditions as I don't work for bmi but bmibaby, but I can tell you it's definately worth giving it a shot. If you don't like it after a year, having a respected carrier like bmi (and your flag carrier LOT) on a resumé will look pretty good if you wanted to go for BA again. Who knows? You might even like it over here!

Thank you very much for response :D as it gaves me a great sight into subject.

Working so many years in the air transportation industry I respect all my colleagues from any airlines both charter and scheduled ones. I just respect all kinds of Flight Attendant types and their threads.

As you know, I am not satisfied with cc job with LOT Polish Airlines which I have been doing for over 8 years, and not only because of money I earn, but also because of the whole situation with the company, the way our management treats us.

As I really like my job and I think I am good at it (I am not showing off, believe me) I would love to share my knowledge and experience with any other great airline and simultaneously learn from them.
But the main problem is, that I am not UK citizen and that's why UK airlines don't accept me, no matter my EU national rights (that's what BA did last week)
For you - UK nationals or UK permanent residents already living in UK it is not a problem (or meybe a less complicated one) to move to another city) and fly from those destinations to the base one.
But I have to make a right choice, as I move to another country (I do not complain, I would love to, but to the permanent employer, and under clear work conditions, I hope you understand me....)
that's why I asked for your advice about BMI, which I have always regarded as great one. But I am not arro-minded and i know that there are more airlines which accept (theoretically) my experience and i would like to choose the best one or ones to apply to.
I am not afraid of hard work, I am doing it in LOT too (hope you won't experience similar), but I would like to be sure that I made a right choice regarding my new salary and career path.

Anyway, I decided to send BMI application off and apply easyjet (for their senior cabin crew fast track proccess).
I believe in you....

Dont do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! crap management...... crap working conditions....crap money unless you live at home with mum........maybe thats why they dropped the age limit to 18! If you never get ill or have any friends that you need to see without giving them at least 10 weeks notice that you might like to pop around for a chat, then bmi is for you. Anyway I hear they are going on strike soon. good luck. xxxxxxxx

I really enjoyed my early years at BMA but I am going back to 1986!! I left in 1990 and by that stage really hated some of the management.

However I would advise anyone to join BMA for the experience if you can't get into any other airline. Its a good stepping stone and the airline is still regarded as having good standards in the industry which will put you on a good footing for applying to other airlines.

Plenty of BMA crew leave to join BA, ANZ, JAL etc etc

Sorry keep refering to the airline as BMA of course its now BMI!

easyJet will not have any problems with your nationality. We are currently employing a lot of people from the new EU countries. With your experience you could get a fast track promotion to Senior/Purser, especially if you apply for Gatwick. Money is really good here, but the days are long. I really do love the people I work with here, and the atmopsphere is very friendly and relaxed. If you want any more info the PM me.
